About me

I Am An Asperger's Artist
I am not sure how Asperger's Syndrome might influence my work. I have excellent eyesight (and other senses). My preferred subjects are usually natural landscapes without any hint of significant urbanisation.
With no formal training my painting really comes from a stubborn persistence.

Sometimes I really love to paint. It's great to be absorbed in work and I usually think about someone who I could give the work to. Often I set the music to the same song and leave it on repeat for as long as necessary.

I was clinically diagnosed with Asperger's in my late 30s and previously I had an academic research career. However, once too often I found it necessary to resign my sensible University research job and so now I paint.

Fortunately, people are kind enough to enjoy my work, seek commissions and encourage me to continue to be an artist.

For the best information on Asperger Syndrome I recommend the book ."Autism and Asperger Syndrome: the facts" by Simon Baron-Cohen (2008) . It is scientific, clear and extremely positive.
